The president did not wear a Halloween costume; he showed up to the party in his usual red tie and navy suit. He noted that a lot of the “rich people” in attendance had spent far more time and money on their look.
“I came as Donald Trump,” he said. “I didn’t have time to get — people spent a lot of time and money. Rich people. They spent nine hours getting ready. I had ten minutes, so I came as Donald Trump.”
Membership to Mar-a-Lago is believe to be at least $200,000 a year, and at the party, Trump kept pointing out that his pals are quite wealthy. According to the New York Times, he repeatedly referred to attendees as his “rich friends.”
“Look at all my rich members,” Trump said. “They spent all day getting ready. Look at these guys.” He added, “These are the biggest guys on Wall Street.”
